Montreal has no shortage of moving companies, and pricing alone is a poor way to tell them apart. A few concrete checks will tell you more about how a move day will actually go than any quote ever will.
First, confirm the company is licensed with the Commission des transports du Québec (CTQ) and carries cargo insurance. This isn't paperwork for its own sake — it determines what happens if something is damaged or lost, and a company that skips it usually skips other things too.
Second, ask how the crew is staffed. Some companies build their teams from day-labour agencies booked the morning of your move; others, like ours, run dedicated, trained crews who know each other and know the equipment. It shows in how carefully furniture is handled.
Third, get the pricing structure in writing before moving day — hourly versus flat rate, travel time, and what happens if the job runs long. A company that explains this clearly upfront is one that isn't planning to surprise you with the final invoice.
Finally, read recent reviews, not just the average score. Look specifically for comments about communication and care with belongings — the two things that separate a good move from a stressful one.
